Dr. VanGilder comes to Ursinus from the chairperson position in economics at California State University-Bakersfield, having taught numerous courses in subfields of microeconomics. She joins the Business and Economics department, where she will teach courses in global economy, managerial economics, labor economics and race and gender. Dr. VanGilder studied under renowned labor economist Solomon Polachek at SUNY-Binghamton. Her research spans labor and higher education topics, as evidenced by several published articles in highly rated journals. Her passion, however, lies in teaching in a liberal arts setting, which is what drew her to Ursinus, and she looks forward to serving as a mentor for undergraduate research. Her teaching credentials are as impressive as her research endeavors. At SUNY-Binghamton she was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award.
