Palo Verde
We spend five days in Palo Verde National Park,
at the field station run by OTS.
Its ecosytems include river, marsh, and seasonally-dry forest on the limestone ridges flanking the marsh.
The forest supports three species of monkeys, like this male white-face capuchin, a favorite behavioral research subject.
The marsh is home to the curious northern jacana,
not to mention two unique species of bats.
And the river teems with herons, ibises, and spoonbills.
But don't fall out of the boat!
