Internships - An off-campus academic/work experience under the supervision of an internship adviser and an on-site supervisor. Contact departmental chair for further information.
Prerequisites: Junior standing, nine credits in psychology, and approval of a faculty internship adviser. Eight to ten hours per week. Three semester hours.
ILE - All Ursinus students must complete an Independent Learning Experience (ILE) as part of the liberal studies curriculum. The ILE can be fulfilled by performing research with an Ursinus faculty member, or research or an internship with an off-campus mentor. ILE can also be fulfilled by a study abroad or student teaching.
Research - Many research opportunities exist for students in the Psychology Department. Students can choose to perform research off-campus or in the laboratories of the Psychology Department faculty. Several members of the faculty in the Psychology department maintain active research laboratories and are committed to involving undergraduates in their work. Research can be carried out for 1 credit (3 hours/week) or 4 credits (12 hours/week). The department also offers Honors Research opportunities.
If you are interested in performing research with a faculty member, notify the faculty member the semester prior to when you want to begin and explain your interest in working with them.
There are opportunities to perform research during the summer as a Summer Fellow, HHMI Fellow, or NIH Fellow (all are paid fellowships with on-campus housing). There are also opportunities to present your work at regional, national, and local conferences.
Psi Chi - Psi Chi is the National Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship and advancing the science of psychology.
