Ursinus College Summer Fellows Program

The Ursinus College Summer Fellows program allows a select group of junior and well-qualified sophomore students to pursue an independent project under the close supervision of a faculty mentor. The summer allows both the student and mentor more time to indulge in focused exploration related to a scholarly or creative project of mutual interest. Summer Fellows Student Projects can take the form of independent research or a creative or artistic endeavor.

The application for the 2008 Summer Fellows program will be web-based and accessible only on this website. The application will be available soon, and the deadline for applications will be February 8, 2008.

Applications to the Summer Fellows program include a completed Summer Fellows Program Application Form; a letter of endorsement from the faculty mentor or off-campus mentor and faculty associate who will guide the project; and, an additional letter of recommendation from an Ursinus faculty member who is not associated with the project.

The Faculty Working Group on Undergraduate Research will review all completed applications and make funding recommendations to the Dean. Students will be notified in mid-March.

Faculty members are encouraged to identify current sophomores and juniors who might qualify for the Ursinus Summer Fellows Program and to discuss whether they are interested in this special collaborative opportunity after familiarizing themselves with the program guidelines
